These changes are unlikely to inspire PC users, who already had access to these chips. The 13″ MacBook Pro gets a more modest update. Apple even touts the ability to run more instances of plug-ins like Alchemy in Logic Pro, so they do have the music market in mind – at least as far as what they put in the press release. The big news last week was that Apple had a big spec bump on its top-of-range 15″ MacBook Pro – a speedy 6-core entry level, plus for the first time 8-core CPUs in the Apple notebooks. But that machine still includes the troubled T2 security chip used on all Macs from 2018 onward – and there’s no complete fix yet for the audio problems it can cause.
